As a seasoned structural engineer, Mike has seen a lot in his career – and has been highly lauded for his contributions to the industry.

His work has taken him around the world, where he has been lead engineer for several overseas aid projects, including: a new Customs Building in Kiribati; re-roofing of the National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh; and a new Intensive Care Centre and Burns Unit at Sanglah Hospital, Bali (as a memorial to the victims of the Bali bombing, 12 October 2002).

In each of these projects, Mike and his team would seek to raise the level of local building practices, while at the same time ensuring solutions are appropriate to the local environment – empowering and benefiting the local communities.
